I read a great article this morning that outlines the future of search engine optimization and gaining valuable content for your website. With all of the changes that Google has been making to their search ranking methodologies, it is not longer enough to just add keywords to your text and create blogs that are keyword heavy. More emphasis is being put on the quality of your content. So how does Google evaluate what is quality content? The answer is Social Media. The more shares, reads, likes your content receives the greater the higher it’s quality can be considered.
What does this mean for the blog writer? It is time to stop writing about your company or the great things it does. Instead, write about topics that your customers want to hear about and make it personal. The topic should still be related to your industry but should not be a sales pitch. This is the earliest part of your relationship with a potential future client. That relationship needs to be built on trust which mean your blog entry needs to offer real truthful and useful information.
A few examples. A wedding planner could write a entry about the things to consider when choosing a venue. A reservations company could write about vacationing on a budget. A fly fishing supplier could write about how to tie your own flies. A web design company could write about how to get the most out of your website.
