Exciting news, Google analytics 4 is here! Underneath your uncontrollable enthusiasm for this update you may be wondering “What is google Analytics 4? And how does this affect me?” Both are great questions.
What is Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4, also known as GA4 is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic; it’s the most important tool for determining the effectiveness of ongoing digital marketing. It is replacing long time used Google Universal Analytics which we at Gliffen Designs have been installing on all of our client websites for the past 10 years by default. Analytics data is invaluable to understanding the behavior of your website traffic and marketing efforts.
How does this affect you?
Universal Analytics will be shutting down July 1st 2023. In order to continue seeing visitor data for your website, you will need to upgrade before that time. Though this seems like a lot of time to make the switch, it isn’t. The data collected by universal analytics will not be imported into the new GA4. So if you make the switch at the last minute you will lose out on valuable data as well as the ability to make historical comparisons.
We can help implement the new GA4 code on your website. We will do this together with your existing Universal Analytics account which will create a better historical record for comparisons once Universal Analytics is shut down.
If you would like to have your website upgraded with GA4 please Contact us and we can perform the upgrade for you. You can find more information about GA4 and the ending of universal analytics here
