Heck, I (Heather) am from Virginia and when I heard on Twitter and Facebook that there was an earthquake back home – up and down the east coast.. I immediately “Googled it” to see if it hit the news websites yet. I suppose I understand that it takes some time to get these things rolling out – approval and all that, but it was interesting to me how slow even CNN was to broadcast this story. Go Twitter and Facebook! “The People’s Network” is really what I’d like to call it. We become our own broadcasters. Some of these tweets that I saw were more dramatic than others, some were down right funny.

But the point is, Social networking works.

Whether you are trying to get the word out about your business or an earth-shaking incident, it can be an extremely effective way to get the word out.
